| TRY A TRIPHAZER. BE ASTOUNDED. YOU"VE GOT NOTHING TO LOSE BUT DISTORTION. |
The following is a review that appeared in "Bound for Sound". They are an underground HI END audio news letter that covers the extreme audio scene here in the US. Since they do not take advertisements they are less likely to be biased towards economic concerns. And it happened just like he said. (tritium)
| "It's
against reason," said Filby. "What reason?" said the time traveler. H.G. Wells, "The Time Machine" |
I am cautioning you the product in question is mysterious and it comes from an unknown company but it really works. I discovered Tritium electronics, a small business concern on the west side of Milwaukee, about six months ago. The place had been recommended to me as a reliable place to have some tube electronics serviced and modified. The owner and I talked briefly about the minor surgery I wanted performed on my conrad-johnson preamp. Unexpectedly, the conversation turned to Tri-phazers. "Try what?" I asked. ...
Time Travel Made Easy :
With the Tri-phazers in place my
system immediately projected greater depth of field than usual. Within
minutes, I also perceived better articulation, that is the notes and
the spaces between the notes were clearer. The effect was not one of
detail at the expense of musical pleasure the illusion of a live
performance had been greatly enhanced ... I listened longer than
anticipated. The magnitude of improvement with the Tri-phazers...
or(tri-phasers). was greater than achieved by replacing power cords and
installing dedicated power lines to separate components. Next I
took the tri-phazers into the study where a more modest system resides
(CD source, integrated amp and cone drivers in sealed boxes). This is a
pleasant, if not terribly revealing ensemble. The addition of the
tri-phazers didn't transform the study into Carnegie Hall, but the
sonic Improvements were plainly audible and very consistent with what I
had heard earlier. Lastly, I took the Tri-phazers to my office, where
an even simpler system hangs out. Again, I noticed a superior Illusion
of depth with cleaner spaces between noted and silence. ( silence
between notes ) Cymbal splashes in particular became more realistic an
achievement for the modest tweeter involved. I had become so impressed
with the Tri-phazers that I began to doubt myself.
A question of Value..
A good report tries to determine
whether a product works well enough to be competitive. How am I
supposed to tell what a device Is worth when It has no competition....
considering the fact that nothing I'm aware of makes this kind of
improvement and that you can place them anywhere in a system without
discarding something else, No such compromise exists with the
tri-phazers, you put it in a system and the system sounds better the
moment the device is in. This is the first unit I've heard and I think
Martin agrees - that seems to improve any and all systems it is in
regardless of other variables and factors normally attributed to cost
and type. How much is that worth to you?
In summary,
Tritium Electronics has developed a black box that makes any system
sound more lifelike and real. Years from now when your CD player has
expired and your present speakers have been sold I predict that the
Tri-phazers will still be with you.
MGD comments,
As Rich Indicated, upon his suggestion
I received a pair of Tri-phazers from the manufacturer Tritium
Electronics.
My initial skepticism was
dispelled when I inserted them into a system using the Gallo Acoustic
loudspeakers. As you may know the Gallo uses a new and revolutionary
360 degree in the round tweeter.
The insertion
of the Tri-phazer had indeed changed the system and very much for the
better, First thing to catch my ear was an improvement in the way
images inhabited the soundstage. l will call it a positive step toward
naturalness.
With the
Tri-phazers in the system the Imaging became more precise and yet it
imaged larger and more naturally it struck me as the kind of
improvement in imaging that every audiophile would appreciate
regardless of his preference. Players were in place not confined to
some miniature spot between left and right instead they took a
realistically sized space upon the stage and that's where they stayed
extremely dense and very palpable. without doubt the tri-phaser
maintains the kind of lmaging and staging that classical and jazz
aficionados alike would love. The area of the performance was enhanced
along all boundaries.
Tone quality:
With the density of images belng so
lmproved could the tone quality be anything less than superb? I'd call
It rich without being overly lush. Technically, what I think to be
going on was a fuller retrieval of (harmonic envelope attached to each
sound. Every sound reproduced seemed more complete. It's as if a sonic
contaminant had been removed leaving more of the music to be revealed.
The
tri-phazers took an already exceptional system to greater levels of
transparency perhaps more so than any other so called "tweak" used in
the last five years. Now to put all of this in perspective. what
strikes me as potentially groundbreaking about the tri-phazers is not
how much they improve the sound of a system it's what they do to
improve a system they improve in ways that are hard or impossible to
attain with other devices as such they are equally hard to describe and
define via the written word........
... I consider
tri-phazers to potentially be products of great import and consequence.
I hope to be writing much more about this product.
Bound for Sound review by Dr. Richard Weiner and Martin DeWulf
Several months later while reviewing
some speakers that Martin really liked he thought to try the
tri-phazers on the $4,500 units to his amazement they took great
sounding speakers and made them better!
With that he wrote in the review:
"Is there nothing that tri-phazers won't help?"
Now read letters from happy Tri-phazer customers.

Bound For Sound Amplifier Connection Part II
A final point regarding set-up of the W3. Like no other amplifier in
this survey, the W3 benefited from the use of the
Tritium Tri-phazer made
for loudspeakers. The W3 is a good sounding amplifier
on its own, not a
whole lot to complain about, and some real positives.
With the addition
of the speaker Tri-phazers, the amplifier came alive
with tonal color and
energy. My listening notes say the following:
"Inserted Tri-phazers today, vastly
improved every aspect of sound.
thought that going from Clayton M-100's to W3 would be
a great let down
- it has been anything but...transient action is
outstanding. Edges are
caught largely without comprimise...Sense of space and
presence is
stunning. I'm straining to find anything negative about
this amp...amp
has abundant energy in the mids and upper mids.
Awesome, playing with
fire, on verge of being overly aggressive - but not
there. Walks a very
satisfying tight rope. Bass has energy, but not quite
as clearly
contoured as the Clayton..."
This is what I wrote the next night.
"Noticed that images are larger
- closer - less outlined than with M-100's. Still sense
of space and
presence is stunning...ambiance retrieval is superb,
fill in all the
gaps. Tonally lush, and a very nearly complete
harmonic, without being
overly boomy...I love the energy!!! Dynamic action is
setting it apart -
mega dynamic contrasts, tonality, everything...the way
this amp sounds
now, it could be my reference..."
I've exceeded the general scope of
"set-up" with a all the
superlatives spewed in the last couple of paragraphs,
but I thought
going into some of my immediate reactions after
inserting the Tri-phazers
warranted repeating. It was an experience.
SONICS. After the above. there isn't
much suspense in reading the
rest of this review. However, I'd like to refer once
again to the Buddy
Guy, Junior Wells disc. It was the W3 with Tri-phazers
that most vividly
exhibited to me just how amazing that CD really is. And
I'm not sure
that any power amplifier has rendered that disc any
more realistic or
alive than did the W3. Mind you, I don't think that the
reproduction was
perfect with the W3, with or without the Tri-phazers.
The midrange
dynamics of the W3 were just short of the near
perfection found with the
NTA Callas, so they were still very good. And in that
same range, I felt
that W3 was actually a little better than the Calla
when it came to
fleshing out low level detail..........
The W3 captured the certain shades of life
that are part of a
complete harmonic presentation. Of course, this aspect
of the
performance was heightened by the use of the Tritium
Tri-phazer.
No Ac line conditioning was used,
the amp being plugged into the
wall. I used Tritium Tri-phazers during all critical
listening after
determining that the "basic" character of the amp was
not changed by
their use. The amplifier came to me well used, so I
can't comment on the
nature of the break-in, or how long it took.
